Department of Regional Education Producing specialists who can contribute to the reinforced quality of education.

Aims

In this department,students will study a variety of subjects in specialized fields encompassing psychology, pedagogy, special education, curriculum and instruction, and science of early childhood care and education. These subjects are intrinsically related to educational support and welfare. Students will also learn ways to cope with a variety of education-related issues. Through these courses and seminars, this department aims at producing specialists who can contribute to an improved quality of education, with a focus on the training skilled teachers.

CONTENT OF STUDY

  • Psychology and physiology related to human development
  • Support systems including education, welfare and medical care or handicapped children and adults
  • Educational planning based on pedagogical science and research
  • Educational support systems for teaching school subjects and skills
  • Theory and practice for promoting a better understanding of early childhood care and education

Class 1 Teacher’s License to Teach in Elementary Schools

Teachers of kindergarten, elementary school, junior and senior high school, and/or special education school, Nursery teacher of nursery school and other institutions of welfare for children, School librarian for elementary school, junior and senior high schools, and/or special education school,Curator,Counselor for consultation office for children, Staff for institutions of social welfare, Staff of human resources office, Staff of the personnel section of private company, Researcher of domestic relations court, Staff of reform school and/or detention home, JPA certified psychologist, Graduate school (in various disciplines)

About learning activities through seminars (or workshops) and practicum

About learning activities through seminars (or workshops) and practicumThe Department of Regional Education provides opportunities for various types of practical trainings. The trainings include practice teaching at elementary schools, kindergartens or schools for children with special needs, and practice childcare at nursery schools or child welfare facilities.

In addition, the subject Seminar on Education in Community provides the students with the opportunities to actually go to regions for surveys and the like.

The students will enjoy quite a number of chances to experience volunteer works in various fields in regions, such as schools, children’s clubs after school, child welfare facilities, children’s associations, facilities for disabled children, and NPOs.
